Week 12 Tasks

June 22 – 26, 2020, Week 12

Dear Parents,

We did it!  We made it to the end of the year!!  It has been far from a typical year but still, it has been a pleasure and an honour to get to know and teach each and every one of your children.  I will miss everyone greatly but it is time to move on to a new school and make new friends!

If you haven’t done so already, please remember to go to school to pick up your materials, including your shoes!

Also, if you have any LIBRARY books or CLASSROOM books, please remember to return them!

Item drop-off and pick-up is in the gym. Please use the compound doors to enter and exit.  You do not have to call ahead of time if you come between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm on either Monday, June 22 or Tuesday, June 23.  If you are unable to come at the scheduled time, please call the school ahead of time to confirm a day and time.

A reminder that this Friday, Saddle Ridge School will be celebrating the grade 4 “graduation” with an End of the Year Parade of Greatness!

Week 10 Tasks

June 8 – 14, 2020, Week 10

Dear Parents,

For the past few weeks of ongoing learning, we became ethnobotanists studying Alberta’s culture and its native plants.  This resulted in our final project, the Ethnobotany of Alberta Magazine!  Students worked collaboratively to contribute their knowledge and expertise informing us about Alberta’s native plants and how the Indigenous have traditionally used those plants.  This magazine is ready to be shared and can be viewed by clicking here.

Virtual Coding Club – KidsCodeJeunesse is offering a Virtual Coding Club to students where they will be guided through fun coding activities and challenges each week.  To learn more to sign up, visit: https://codeclub.ca/virtual-club.html

Just because we aren’t in school doesn’t mean we have to miss our annual Sports Day!  Sports Day will be held during our whole-class Google Meet (Tuesday, at 11 am) this week!  The theme is Superheroes. Students can dress up; they can wear a whole outfit, a headband, a mask, or superhero colours like red, yellow, and blue! Students are encouraged to bring the following items to be ready for some fun: a coin (like a nickel, dime or quarter), one shoe, a pair of rolled up socks, and a spoon!

June is National Indigenous History Month to honour the history, heritage, and diversity of Indigenous peoples in Canada. There are a number of activities posted under Optional Week 10 tasks for students to stay engaged while learning more about Indigenous peoples of Canada.
